What it does
AR Measure turns your phone's camera into a real-world tape measure using augmented reality. Point at any surface, tap to set a start point, move to your endpoint, and read the distance instantly on screen — no physical ruler needed. It works entirely on your device, so there's no internet connection required, no account to create, and nothing is ever uploaded anywhere. Whether you're checking if a sofa fits a wall, estimating a room dimension, or measuring a piece of furniture before you buy, AR Measure gives you a fast, private, always-available answer. It's completely free, runs fully offline, and keeps all measurements local to your phone.
How to use the AR Measure
- Open AR Measure and point your camera at a flat surface with good lighting.
- Tap the screen to place your starting point — a dot will anchor to the surface.
- Slowly move your phone to your endpoint, then tap again to complete the measurement.
- Read the distance displayed on screen in your chosen unit (cm, in, ft, or m).
- Tap the trash icon to clear and start a new measurement, or take a screenshot to save.
Frequently asked questions
- How accurate is AR Measure?
- Accuracy depends on your device's LiDAR or depth sensors and good lighting. On devices with LiDAR (like newer iPhones) you can expect ±1–2 cm. On camera-only devices, results are best on flat, well-lit, textured surfaces.
- Does it work without internet?
- Yes, completely. AR Measure runs entirely on your device using the camera and motion sensors — no internet connection is required at any point.
- Can I measure height or vertical distances?
- Yes. You can measure in any direction — horizontal, vertical, or diagonal — as long as you can keep your phone steady while moving from one point to another.
- Does the app store or share my measurements?
- No. All measurements stay on your device and are cleared when you close the tool. Nothing is uploaded or shared.
