Privacy Policy

Carbide is an offline-first toolkit. This policy explains what data we process when you use the Carbide website, how we use cookies and advertising, and your rights.
1. Who we are
Carbide is a utility toolkit for web, iOS and Android. This policy covers the website at https://carbideapp.com. Questions? Contact us at support@carbideapp.com.
2. Data we process
Carbide's tools run inside your browser, and what you create with them (notes, favorites, history, results) is saved locally in your browser's storage (localStorage) on your device only — we don't store your tool inputs on a server. The only exceptions are optional and happen only if you choose them: signing in (Google, Apple or email, to sync preferences) and contacting support.
- Local preferences: theme (light/dark), language, favorites, recently-used tools, notes, Pro status, and your cookie-consent choice.
- Support inquiries: if you sign in and send us a message from the Support page, we store your name, email address, message and basic technical details (such as your browser) server-side in Firebase (Firestore) so we can reply and follow up. See “Your rights” to have it deleted.
- Server logs: when pages load, our hosting provider (Google Cloud Run / Firebase Hosting) may log standard technical data such as IP address and browser type for security and operation.
- Device tools: some tools (e.g. the voice recorder) request your browser's microphone/camera permission and process media locally only — we do not upload it to our servers.
3. Cookies & consent
We use necessary cookies and local storage to run the site (for example, remembering your theme and consent choice). Advertising and analytics cookies are enabled only with your consent, including Firebase Analytics to understand page/tool usage and improve the experience. You can change your choice at any time from the consent banner.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense and Monetag)
Carbide is free and ad-supported. We may use Google AdSense and Monetag to display ads. As third-party ad providers, Google, Monetag and their partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses or other identifiers to serve, measure and personalize ads.
Advertising scripts and ad units are loaded only after advertising consent and when ads are configured on the site. Some tools may show a rewarded ad before you download a result file; the download remains available whether or not an ad is shown.
Google explains how it uses data on partner sites and apps at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can manage personalized advertising via Google's ad settings, Monetag's opt-out page at monetag.com/opt-out, or youronlinechoices.eu.
5. Third-party providers
- Google AdSense — advertising, site ownership verification and ads.txt authorization.
- Monetag — advertising (with your consent).
- Firebase Analytics — website/tool usage measurement and performance analysis (with your consent).
- Google Cloud Run + Firebase Hosting — hosting and delivery of the site.
- Currency rate provider (open.er-api.com) — called to fetch exchange rates in the currency converter, without sending your identifying data.
6. Your rights
Because most of your data is stored locally, you control it entirely: you can erase it anytime by clearing this site's data in your browser. You can also withdraw advertising/analytics consent from the consent banner. Under applicable laws (e.g. GDPR / CCPA) you have rights to access, delete and object.
The one thing we hold server-side is support inquiries (see section 2). You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the delete-account page at https://carbideapp.com/delete-account, or inside the app via Settings → Delete account — either one automatically erases your account and its support inquiries. Alternatively, you can email support@carbideapp.com to request deletion.
7. Children
The site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. We'll post the updated version here with a new date.
