What it does

Video Editor is a full browser-based video toolkit powered by ffmpeg — trim a clip to the exact segment you need, compress a large video to a smaller file size, convert it to an animated GIF, or strip out just the audio track. Everything runs directly in your browser using WebAssembly; your video file is never uploaded to any server, so your content stays completely private. No account, no subscription, and no software to install — just open it and start editing. Once the page has loaded the tool works entirely offline, which makes it safe to use with sensitive or personal footage. Results download straight to your device. It is free with no watermarks and handles common video formats including MP4, WebM, and MOV.

How to use the Video Editor

  1. Open Video Editor and upload your video file by dragging it onto the page or clicking to browse.
  2. Choose the operation you want: Trim, Compress, Convert to GIF, or Extract Audio.
  3. For trimming, set the start and end timestamps of the segment you want to keep.
  4. For compression or conversion, adjust any available quality or format settings.
  5. Click Process and wait for ffmpeg to finish, then click Download to save the result.

Frequently asked questions

Is the video actually uploaded to a server when I process it?
No. Video Editor uses ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, which means all processing happens inside your browser. Your video file never leaves your device.
What video formats does it support?
It supports common formats including MP4, WebM, and MOV for input. Output format depends on the operation — trim and compress keep the original format, while Convert to GIF outputs a GIF and Extract Audio outputs MP3 or AAC.
Why does processing take a while?
ffmpeg runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly, which is slower than a native app or server-side processing. Longer or higher-resolution videos will take more time. This is the trade-off for full privacy.
Can I extract just the audio from a video file?
Yes. Choose the Extract Audio option and Video Editor will use ffmpeg to strip the audio track and give you a downloadable audio file.
