Does PNG keep the transparency from my AVIF file?
Yes. Both AVIF and PNG support alpha transparency, so transparent backgrounds and cut-out edges are preserved exactly. This is the key difference from converting to JPG, which flattens transparency onto white.
Is AVIF to PNG lossless?
Yes. PNG stores every pixel of the decoded AVIF without further compression loss. Note that if the AVIF itself was saved lossily by whoever created it, PNG preserves what's in the file — it can't restore detail the AVIF never contained.
