What is the Mirror tool?
This is a camera mirror — your device's front camera used as a real looking glass — not screen mirroring to a TV. It runs right here in your browser on a phone, tablet or laptop: allow the camera once and you get a clear, live reflection instantly, with nothing between you and the picture. If you want to check your hair, fix your make-up, or see whether something is stuck in your teeth when no mirror is around, this is it; if you were trying to cast your display, you want a casting tool instead.
Four controls make it more useful than a compact mirror. A zoom slider gets you close enough for eyeliner or a stray lash. A freeze button holds the frame so you can study a detail without keeping your pose. A mirror toggle flips between the reversed view you are used to and the way other people actually see you. And when you find the right shot you can take a photo, then download or share it. Colour looks — black and white, sepia, warm, cool or invert — plus a brightness slider help in poor lighting.
Privacy is built in: the camera feed lives only on your screen for as long as the mirror is open. Nothing is recorded, saved to a server or uploaded — a snapshot is created on your device only when you tap the shutter, and closing the tool or turning the camera off stops the stream immediately. How to use the Mirror
- Open Mirror and tap Enable camera, then allow camera access when your browser asks.
- Your front camera starts as a live, mirrored reflection — hold your device at a comfortable angle.
- Drag the zoom slider to move closer for detail work like make-up or a contact lens, and adjust brightness for the light you're in.
- Tap freeze to hold the frame, or Mirror to switch between the reversed view and how others see you.
- Tap Take photo to capture the moment, then download or share the snapshot.
Frequently asked questions
Does the mirror save photos or videos?
No. The camera feed is shown live on your screen and nowhere else — nothing is recorded or uploaded. A photo is only created, on your device, when you tap Take photo, and a frozen frame simply pauses the preview until you unfreeze or close the tool.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Mirror runs in your web browser. The first time you use it your browser asks for camera permission; allow it and the live mirror starts. The same tool is also coming to the free Carbide app for Android and iPhone.
How do I zoom in the mirror?
Drag the zoom slider under the preview. It magnifies the live image smoothly, which is exactly what you need for precise work like eyeliner, a lash or checking a spot up close.
Why does my face look flipped?
By default the tool mirrors the image, the same way a real mirror does — that is the view your brain expects. Tap Mirror to see yourself un-mirrored, which is how you appear to other people and in photos.
Why does it say the camera is blocked?
Either you declined the permission or the site is blocked in your browser settings. Click the camera icon in the address bar (or open site settings) to allow the camera, then press Try again. Camera access also requires a secure https connection.
Is this the same as screen mirroring?
No — the names collide but the tools are unrelated. Screen mirroring casts your display to a TV or monitor; this mirror turns the front camera into a looking glass. If you need casting, use your device's built-in cast feature instead.
Can I use it as a makeup mirror?
Yes — that is one of its best uses. Zoom in for precision, freeze the frame to inspect the result, brighten a dim room, and flip to check how the look reads to everyone else. It replaces the compact mirror you forgot to bring.
