What is the QR Pro tool?

QR Pro is Carbide's campaign workspace for QR codes that need to do more than sit on a poster once. Pick from web page, text, Wi-Fi, vCard, email, WhatsApp, SMS, PDF, contact profile or link-in-bio content, then choose whether the code is static — the content is baked in forever — or dynamic, meaning the QR image never changes but you can repoint, pause or retire the destination at any time from the same short link.

A dynamic QR code works by encoding a short Carbide redirect link instead of your final content. Scan it and the resolver looks up where that link currently points and sends the visitor there — so a menu QR printed on a table tent can start pointing at this month's specials without reprinting a single code, and every scan is logged so you can see how a print run actually performed.

Design controls cover frame styles, module shapes, corner styles, logo placement and color, with built-in scan-safety checks — a contrast warning, a minimum error-correction level once a logo goes over 20% of the code, and a quiet-zone check — so a code that looks sharp still scans reliably in a phone camera. Unlike most dynamic-QR platforms, there's no per-scan pricing tier or forced account for static codes: quick one-off codes stay free and local, and signing in only unlocks the parts that need a server — dynamic links, cloud-saved projects and the analytics dashboard.

How to use the QR Pro

  1. Pick a QR type — web page, text, Wi-Fi, vCard, email, WhatsApp, SMS, PDF, contact profile or link list.
  2. Fill in the content form for that type; a live preview updates as you type.
  3. Choose static (content baked in) or dynamic (an editable short link) if the type supports both.
  4. Style the code — frame, module shape, corners, logo and colors — with live scan-safety warnings.
  5. Download as PNG or SVG, or save the project to track scans and edit it later.

Frequently asked questions

What is a dynamic QR code?

A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect link instead of your final content, so the printed code never changes but you can repoint, pause or retire where it leads at any time. A static QR code has its content baked in permanently — reprinting is the only way to change it.

Is QR Pro free to use?

Yes. Unlike most dynamic-QR platforms that cap free scans or gate analytics behind a paid plan, static codes work fully offline with no account, and signing in to unlock dynamic links, cloud sync and analytics doesn't require a subscription.

Can I edit a QR code after I've printed it?

Only a dynamic QR code can be edited after printing — its payload is a short link you control, so you can change the destination without reprinting. A static code's content is fixed the moment you generate it.

Will adding a logo make my QR code unscannable?

It can if the logo is too large or the error-correction level is too low. QR Pro raises a scan-safety warning and requires the high error-correction level once a logo covers more than 20% of the code, so the design stays reliably scannable.

Do you track who scans my QR code?

Analytics on dynamic codes are limited to campaign metrics — scan counts over time, coarse device/location data — never raw IP addresses or anything that identifies an individual visitor.

How is this different from the simple QR Generator tool?

QR Generator makes a quick, static, offline code in seconds with no sign-up — great for a one-off link or Wi-Fi network. QR Pro adds dynamic editable links, visual design controls, saved projects, bulk generation and analytics for QR codes used in an ongoing campaign.
