What it does

Magnifier uses your device's camera as a digital loupe, letting you zoom in on small text, fine print, labels, serial numbers, or any tiny detail that's hard to read with the naked eye. Just point your camera at what you want to examine and drag the zoom slider to magnify up to six times. You can also toggle the light to illuminate dark or poorly lit objects, and freeze the frame to study a still image at your leisure without holding your hand steady. It runs entirely on your device — nothing is captured or stored, no account is needed, and it works completely offline. Magnifier is free to use as part of Carbide and is ideal for anyone who occasionally needs a little extra help reading small print.

How to use the Magnifier

  1. Open Magnifier in Carbide and allow camera access when prompted.
  2. Point your camera at the text or object you want to examine.
  3. Drag the zoom slider to increase magnification up to 6×.
  4. Toggle the light on to illuminate dark or low-contrast subjects.
  5. Tap Freeze to pause on a still frame so you can read without holding your hand steady.

Frequently asked questions

How much can Magnifier zoom in?
Magnifier supports up to 6× digital zoom, which is enough to read most fine print, serial numbers, and small labels clearly.
Does it save any photos of what I point the camera at?
No. The camera feed is displayed live on screen only and is never saved, stored, or transmitted anywhere.
Can I use Magnifier in a dark room?
Yes. Toggle the light button to turn on the device torch, which illuminates the subject so you can read it even in very low light.
Does it work offline?
Fully. Magnifier only needs your camera — no internet connection is required at any point.
