Voice Recorder
WEBRecord voice memos and download them as audio files.
What is the Voice Recorder tool?
Record audio from your microphone and save it as a file — an online voice recorder that is free, needs no download and no account, and puts no limit on how many recordings you make. There is nothing to install and nothing to configure: open the page, press record and speak. It is built for quick voice memos, dictating notes, capturing an idea before it escapes, or recording a message you want to send.
Your voice is about the most personal thing you can record, so this tool keeps everything on your device: the audio is captured and stored in your browser and is never uploaded to any server. The browser asks for microphone permission once — that permission stays between you and your browser, and the recording never leaves your machine. A live level meter moves while you speak, so you can see the microphone is picking you up.
When you stop, play the recording back and download it instantly. The file is saved in your browser's native recording format — typically WebM (Opus) on Chrome, Android and Firefox, or MP4 (AAC) on Safari and iPhone — which plays in modern players and messaging apps. It works on phones and desktops alike, with no time limit imposed by the tool.
How to use the Voice Recorder
- Press the record button and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Speak — the live level meter confirms your voice is being picked up.
- Press stop when you are done.
- Play the recording back to check it.
- Click download to save the audio file straight to your device.
Frequently asked questions
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. The audio is captured and kept inside your browser on your own device — it is never sent to a server. Nobody but you can hear it unless you choose to share the file.
What format is the downloaded audio?
The recorder saves in your browser's native format: usually WebM (Opus) on Chrome, Android and Firefox, or MP4/AAC on Safari and iPhone. These play in modern players and messaging apps. The tool does not currently export MP3.
Is there a recording time limit?
The tool sets no time limit. Very long sessions are bounded only by your device's memory, so recording a full lecture or meeting is fine on most modern devices.
Is the online voice recorder free?
Yes — fully free with no account, no trial and no cap on the number or length of recordings.
How is this different from Clipchamp or other online recorders?
Most online recorders are fronts for cloud editing suites — they push accounts and process audio on their servers. Carbide's recorder is the opposite: instant, no sign-in, and the audio never leaves your device. If you need multi-track editing afterwards, a full editor is the right next step; for capturing and saving a recording privately, this is the faster path.
Can I record my voice on my phone?
Yes. It works in mobile browsers on Android and iPhone — grant microphone permission, record, and download the file straight to the phone.
