IP Info
WEBSee your public IP address with city, ISP, timezone and coordinates — free in your browser.
What it does
IP Info instantly shows you your public IP address — the address the rest of the internet sees when you connect — along with the city, country, ISP, timezone, and approximate geographic coordinates associated with it. This is useful for checking whether a VPN is actually routing your traffic through the right location, debugging network issues, or simply satisfying curiosity about what your connection reveals to websites you visit. The tool runs directly in your browser and is completely free with no sign-up required. While it does make a single outbound request to determine your public IP (because that address is assigned by your ISP, not stored on your device), the result is displayed locally and nothing is logged or stored by Carbide.
How to use the IP Info
- Open IP Info in Carbide — results load automatically as soon as the page opens.
- Read your public IP address displayed at the top of the results.
- Review the associated details: city, country, ISP, timezone, and coordinates.
- If you're testing a VPN, connect it first, then refresh the page to confirm the new IP and location.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my public IP address the same as my device's local IP?
- No. Your local (private) IP — like 192.168.x.x — is assigned by your router and is only visible within your home network. Your public IP is assigned by your ISP and is what external websites and services see.
- Why does the location shown not match my exact address?
- IP geolocation maps your IP to a general area based on ISP registration data, not GPS. It's typically accurate to the city level but can sometimes point to a nearby city or your ISP's headquarters instead.
- Will using a VPN change what IP Info shows?
- Yes. When a VPN is active, IP Info will show the IP address and location of the VPN exit server, not your real home IP. This is a quick way to confirm your VPN is working.
- Does Carbide store or log my IP address?
- No. Carbide does not log, store, or transmit your IP address. The lookup is performed directly in your browser and the result is only shown to you.
